EUC World 2.48.0 has been released
On August 28, 2024, an update of the EUC World app to version 2.48.0 was published on Google Play. This update focuses primarily on providing full support for Veteran brand electric unicycles, manufactured by LeaperKim.
This is particularly important in the context of the introduction of a number of very significant and long-awaited changes to the firmware of the latest Veteran wheels, which finally allow all wheel settings to be changed directly in the application. This also makes the “Enforce regulator compliance” function possible on the Lynx and Sherman L. LeaperKim has declared that some of the new features introduced in the Lynx and Sherman L will also be ported to older wheels through firmware updates. So it’s possible that “Enforce regulatory compliance” will soon work on the Patton as well, and perhaps on older wheel models too.
Support for Veteran event logs
One particularly important feature that EUC World is introducing in version 2.48.0 is the ability to read the event log from newer Veteran wheels. The event log is a motherboard functionality that monitors the wheel’s proper operation in real time. It is, so to speak, the “black box” of the unicycle, which is independent of the application and active whenever the wheel is running. If anomalies are detected, they are stored inside the motherboard memory and can be read later by the application. In addition, other important events are also stored in the event memory to help analyze the data and troubleshoot the wheel. EUC World is not only able to read the wheel’s event memory, but also interprets the read data and saves the event log in a standarized JSON format, which can be analyzed by humans as a text file as well as further processed by applications and tools.
Other features
The new version of EUC World also has an improved way of displaying Smart BMS health data. This makes it easy to assess the condition of the battery, as well as detect abnormalities in its operation or damage.
A new feature that will probably please those who like to tinker and integrate EUC World into their projects is the Bluetooth Low Energy server. With it, you can connect external applications or devices that communicate via Bluetooth Low Energy to the EUC World application. The BLE server complements the already existing HTTP server.
Sponsored by eWheels
This EUC World release has been sponsored by eWheels LLC, North America’s premier retailer of electric unicycles and scooters. The role played by eWheels in the preparation of this update deserves special mention. Recognizing the need to provide the best possible support for Veteran wheels, eWheels provided me with the newest LeaperKim wheel – Veteran Sherman L. This made it possible to develop complete and thoroughly tested support for all of LeaperKim’s new wheel models in a relatively short period of time. The result of this unique collaboration was an app that was the only one to provide full support for a wheel that was not yet available for regular sale at the time the app was published on Google Play! The only one, because even at the time of writing this article, the official factory LeaperKim app for Android does not support changes to the settings of the feature known in the community as “acceleration assist”, and which is available in EUC World under the name “Dynamic assist”.
This is not the first time eWheels has supported the development of the EUC World app. It’s worth mentioning that it was thanks to eWheels’ involvement that the EUC World app in 2019 brought the possibility of updating firmware on King Song unicycles. Then, thanks to the cooperation of eWheels and EUC World, it was possible to help many users around the world who were left with a non-functional wheel when trying to update the firmware via the official King Song factory app.
With all this in mind, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to Jason McNeil and the entire eWheels team for their commitment and support of EUC World, and consequently all EUC World app users around the world. It is my fervent hope that this unique collaboration will continue, benefiting everyone.
