EUC World

A few words from the creator of EUC World

When EUC World was born in 2019, I never could have imagined that after five years, it would become the most popular and beloved app for electric unicycles around the world. It began as a hobby project, driven by passion, in my spare time between work, family, and personal commitments. Thanks to this passion and the growing support of users like you, so much has changed over the past five years. But one thing has remained constant: this is still a one-person, non-commercial project, developed out of love in my free time.

When I announced the start of work on EUC World 3 in 2022, I had no idea of the changes that were about to unfold in my life. By the end of 2023, these changes had deeply affected my personal and professional life, and unfortunately, my health as well. I’ve had to let go of some passions completely and limit others. EUC World remains a valuable escape from the daily challenges, which is why it has survived, and as of now, there’s no risk to the future of this project. However, I can no longer dedicate as much time to it as I once did. Like all of you, my health, family, and my daily job—which is my main source of livelihood—come first.

But please rest assured. EUC World 3 is progressing, albeit slower than I’d like, but it is moving forward, and the moment when you’ll be able to install it on your phones—both Android and iOS—is getting closer. I can’t promise you a specific date, and I kindly ask for your understanding—please don’t ask me when it will happen. The truth is, I simply don’t have the answer to that question right now. However, I do promise that as soon as I feel the app is ready for public testing, iPhone users will be the very first to participate. Rest assured, there is absolutely no intention of giving up on further development of EUC World for iOS. No f**king way!

I occasionally hear concerns that I turn down offers to collaborate on the development of EUC World 3. This is true, and it stems from my past experiences. There was a time when I was very open to receiving help from others, hoping that their talent, knowledge, and experience would help speed up the development of EUC World. Unfortunately, sooner or later, the enthusiasm of my collaborators would fade, leaving me with work or code that was non-functional, incomplete, or even faulty. Instead of making things easier, it often ended up complicating my work. EUC World is a non-commercial project, supported solely by contributions from Premium users. I simply can’t afford to hire a qualified developer at market rates, and I can’t expect the same level of commitment and responsibility from enthusiasts like myself. I’m always grateful for any help offered, but in the long run, I know I can only truly rely on myself. Life.

I also can’t focus solely on working on EUC World 3, as that would effectively mean freezing any support for the app that tens of thousands of users around the world rely on everyday. So, I need to balance my limited time between the current and future versions of EUC World. To make things even more challenging, unicycle manufacturers are now competing to release as many new wheels as possible. For me, every new wheel means the time-consuming task of integrating it into the app. After all, I can’t leave our current users without support for their new wheels, right?

There was a time when I considered making EUC World my full-time job and main source of income. This would have allowed me to dedicate way much more time to the development of the project. Unfortunately, while the current revenue from Premium accounts is just enough to sustain and grow EUC World, it’s not a project with significant commercial potential, and that’s unlikely to change. If it were, we would have already found an investor willing to turn EUC World into a commercial project or build a similar, commercial app from scratch. Electric unicycles remain a niche topic, and only a small percentage of EUC World users opt for Premium accounts, supporting the development and maintenance of this highly complex project.

What still surprises me is seeing people enthusiastically say “Sh*t up and take my money!” on Facebook when new wheel models worth thousands of dollars are advertised or released. At the same time, they feel that 25 euros a year is too much to support the development of an app that keeps they safe and makes using their wheels easier and more fun. And yet, this 25-euro fee has remained unchanged for nearly two years, during which time the prices of products, services, and energy have all risen significantly. That’s why, starting in the beginning of 2025, I will have to adjust the price of the Premium account to reflect the increased costs of maintaining and developing EUC World due to inflation. This is necessary to ensure that EUC World can continue to grow and provide you with even better functionality in the years to come.

Finally, I kindly ask you to remember that there is only one EUC World. And only one Seba – a truly crazy guy who, despite all the challenges, continues to do everything he can to make EUC World the best app for electric unicycles. I really need your support – including the warm and encouraging words you share. Your support also means understanding that, as a one-man-band behind EUC World and with my own personal struggles, I may not always be able to meet all of your expectations. But I promise, I will do my best within my abilities. You have my word.
